  CHAPTER 1

  The inside of First Assembly Church looked more like an amphitheater than a church. The large projection screens filled the place. Instead of a traditional church alter there were steps that led to the large stage. First Assembly Church was one of the newest mega churches in Greensboro, NC.

  Rev. Edwin Blanks II presided over the church. His television ministry was just picked up by a Christian television station. His energetic, vibrant sermons made his congregation grow by the thousands in just a few years.

  Rev. Blanks comes from a long line of preachers, and his great-grandfather founded First Assembly Church. Edwin's father was the beloved Rev. Blanks that passed away two years ago from a heart attack.

  Rev. Blanks Sr. was a man of integrity. Senior not only preached the word, he lived it. Edwin Sr. and his wife Eloise had six children. Edwin II (Junior), Edmund (Mud), Edward (Eddie), Edem, Elizabeth (Lizzie), and Elisea. Seniors sons on the other hand have taken a different approach to living life outside of the pulpit.

  Junior was married to Lacey, his high school sweetheart. They have two children, Edwin III, 8yrs old, and Layla who is 6 yrs. old. From Senior's death bed he passed the torch on to Edwin because he was the oldest. In reality, Edwin didn't have a heart for the church. He followed in his father’s footsteps because it was expected of him. All the Blanks’ boys went into the seminary. Edwin works side by side with his brothers to keep First Assembly going, while his sister’s work tirelessly in the church to preserve their father’s memory. Mama Eloise tried her best to keep her boys in line. She didn’t care how old they were; she is a matriarch and what she says goes.

  The doors of the church were open and people flooded to the front to become the newest members of First Assembly. The Harlot family was one of the first ones to make it to the front.   Lacey always carried herself with grace no matter what was going on. She made a mental note to get her check book ready because she was almost sure that she would have to pay another woman off to leave her husband alone and to keep their silence.

  After church the entire Blanks clan met up for Sunday dinner at Mama Eloise's. Sunday dinners were mandatory or you had better be prepared to feel the wrath of Mama Eloise.

  Eloise Blanks has her family on a very short leash. Her daughters Elizabeth and Elisea are not allowed to move out until they are married. The girls barely get to date let alone entertain a man long enough to find a suitable husband.

  Elizabeth and Elisea are both pretty women if you can see past the non fitted clothes that swallow their bodies and the boring librarian glasses that Elizabeth wears. Elisea caused world war three when she insisted on wearing a little makeup. Mama Eloise said it was advertising and was completely against it, but Elisea was the baby, the apple of her father’s eye, and Senior convinced his wife that at the age of twenty-eight the girl could wear a little makeup.

  As all the women cooked in the kitchen the Blanks brothers watched the game on the TV in the den.

  "Man, did y'all see those sisters today? Whew! I can't wait to get a taste of that." Mud was the biggest whore of the brothers and very unapologetic about it.

  Mud had received many a slaps from Mama Eloise for getting a parishioner pregnant. His wife Tricia learned to accept her husband’s ways a long time ago.

  "And there's three of them too, we can pass them around like a collection plate." Eddie added.

  Edem shook his head at his brothers. He loved them dearly and they were thick as thieves but he did not condone their ways at all.

  "Y'all can have those women. Did you not pay attention to their names? Those women will be your down fall." Edem explained.

  "Come on now leave baby brother alone. Edem, don't let them get to you, finish what you were saying." Junior always stuck up for his baby brother Edem.

  "I was saying that do y'all think it's a coincidence that they're names are Jezebel, Delilah, and Tamar?" Edem explained.

  "Ah Edem, it's not that serious! It's just a name. You're always finding an excuse to stay away from a woman." Edmund dismissed Edem as usual.

  Edem wasn't like them. He was the one that acted the most like Senior. At 34yrs old Edem was still a virgin and his brothers loved to tease him about that; all of them except Junior. Junior admired his little brother’s convictions.

  Lacey walked into the den carrying a tray with cans of soda on them. "Hey y'all, I figured y'all were thirsty."

  "Thanks baby." Junior walked over to Lacey and took the tray from her.

  "No problem, dinner should be ready soon.” Lacey left to return to the kitchen.

  Mud watched as Lacey walked out of the room. Junior and Eddie didn't catch that but Edem did. He shook his head as he watched his brother lusting after his other brother’s wife. Mud wanted everything that Edwin had.

  Edem didn't understand his brothers. Junior and Mud had lovely wives and Eddie's new girlfriend was very pretty as well. But his brothers were greedy, plain and simple.

  The brothers screamed at the television as their team made a touchdown. Everyone in the room got caught up in the game. The Blanks boys sounded as if they were in the stands watching the game live.

  After the game was over the family sat down to Sunday dinner. Mama Eloise enjoyed these moments. She loved it when all of her children and grandchildren were under the same roof.

  Edwin (Junior) closed his eyes and laid his head back in his office chair as Sheila his personal assistant was on

  "Well, I want to see you some more. Now come on and take me out to eat." Mama Eloise could be very demanding and you did not tell her no.

  "Okay Mama, let me get my jacket. Sheila, call my driver and tell him to pull around the back."

  "Yes sir, I'm on it." Then Sheila mouthed the words "Sorry."

  Junior tried to hide his frustration. Damn, Mama and her cock-blocking ass!

  Junior put on his jacket and left out with his mama to go to eat.

  Junior was quiet in the limo as they rode to PF Changs. Mama Eloise was talking away but Junior was thinking about all that good pussy that he was missing out on.

  "That's a good idea Mama, have you talked to Edem about it?"

  "No! He's not the senior pastor of the church, you are."

  "Well if Edem wants to take the reins on that I don't see a problem with that. He would be perfect with teaching on how to live a Godly lifestyle."

  "Yes he would." Mama Eloise smiled because she was proud of her baby boy. Edem never gave her any problems.

  Junior was relieved when they reached the restaurant. They got a table in the corner. Mama Eloise ate there at least once a week so all the staff knew her. Junior was happy she was so into her food that she wasn't doing much talking.

  After their bellies were full Mama Eloise started yapping again about the Singles Ministry.

  "I was thinking the Singles Ministry should include group outings. Supervised by Edem of course."

  Junior nodded in agreement. "I think it would be good for Lizzy and Elisea too."

  "What? I don't know about that."

  "Mama, don't you think it's time they start dating? They're not getting any younger and I know Lizzie desires having children." Junior knew this would spark a debate. For some reason Mama Eloise wanted to keep his sisters locked away from the world.

  "Boy, I don't need you to tell me what my Daughters’ desires are. I'm their Mama, I know what they need." Mama Eloise scoffed.

  "Mama, I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I'm just saying that they're grown women now and it's time they entered the real world. It's what they want."

  "And how would you know that?" Mama Eloise was getting mad. She hated when someone knew more about her children then she did.

  "They've expressed that to me. So yeah, I think this Singles Ministry idea is a great idea. My sisters will enjoy being around other single people. I also promised Daddy that I would protect them and make sure that they married well. Daddy made me promise and I plan to keep my promise, Mama.”

  The entire Blanks clan was tight. Being the oldest, Juniors’ baby sisters had a special place in his heart. Plus he felt sorry for them. He knew his mother was suffocating the life out of them.

  "Humph!"

  "Mama, what are you so afraid of? You have set a great example for them. They will be fine. All they ever talk about is being a wife and mother just like you." Junior lied. He knew he had to stroke his Mama's ego.

  "Really? Aww! My babies… Maybe you are right." Mama Eloise wanted her girls to get married and start a family but she was afraid of being alone.

  "Great! Email me your ideas and I'll get with Edem about it."

  Junior was happy because he felt like he had just achieved something great for his sisters. He also knew that he was the only one that would challenge his Mama and get away with it. His siblings were too scared of her. He wasn't though, but he respected her.

  "Well son, I'm bout ready to go, you know I'm getting sleepy."

  "Sure thing mama, let's get you home." Junior quickly paid the check and they left the restaurant.

  After dropping his mother off at home Junior was driven back to the church to get his car. His black 2015 Bentley Continental GT awaited him. Junior debated going home to his wife and kids but he thought about not being able to get some, so he texted Sheila.
